Welcome to Caroline Rider Natural Horsemanship
My
mission is to help you create the foundation necessary for
a lifetime of harmony and unity with your horse!
Horses are harmonious and gregarious creatures who by nature
strive for unity, social order and companionship within the
herd dynamic and environment. Their need for harmony compels
them to seek out “passive” leadership vs dominance and after
careful observation of herd dynamics, I have seen them ignore,
as well as fear the more aggressive, dominant horse. The dominant
horse is like the bully on the playground, the one that is
always “pushing” you around even when their needs seem to
have been met. On the other hand, it is the “passive” leader
who is looking out for what is best for the herd and the one
who can provide what they need: safety, comfort, food and
play.
In order for our horses to feel safe and comfortable, we must
allow, foster and nurture not only the relationship but also
an environment that supports our horses feeling in balance
and in harmony with one another. Once we’ve established this,
we will have their trust and can then work on building the
type of bond, or level of companionship our horses seek with
each other. This is when your horse will enjoy “being” with
you and hanging out. It is also the beginning to developing
a more willing partner who trusts you enough to communicate
and learn from you.
My goal is to teach you this language so you can further develop
a relationship based upon what is inherently important to
your horse: leadership (safety, comfort and food); trust and
respect (companionship and play).
